Bob Beers Honored with
the HARRY RUTLEDGE DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD

The Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the AIA is proud to honor Robert L. Beers, AIA, with the Harry Rutledge Distinguished Service Award for Lifetime Achievement. Bob was selected in recognition of his passion and devotion to the architectural profession.

Upon graduation from Lewistown High School in 1956, Bob began his career as a young draftsman at Haak & Kaufman in Myerstown. In 1973, he became a registered architect and in 1982, he founded his own firm, currently Beers & Hoffman Ltd. Shonk, Kerekgyarto & Schwear Architecture, established for over 30 years.

Bob is involved with the Lancaster Rotary Club, Teen Challenge and Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce, and was a former member of the Urban League of Lancaster County and the PSU Gerontology Center Community Advisory Board.

Peter D. Kerekgyarto, R.A., NCARB, LEED AP, Promoted to Firm Associate

Beers & Hoffman, Ltd., Shonk, Schwear & Associates Architecture is pleased to announce that Peter D. Kerekgyarto, Registered Architect and LEED Accredited Professional has been promoted to firm associate. Peter joined the firm in 2005.  Peter’s passion for architecture began at an early age with practical hands-on building experience working with his father in the construction industry and later went on to earn his architectural degree from Penn State University. His extensive project management experience includes healthcare, life care, religious, educational and commercial projects.  He resides in Mountville and works out of the firm’s Lancaster office.

Peter D. Kerekgyarto of Beers & Hoffman becomes Registered Architect

Peter D. Kerekgyarto has completed his architectural internship and registration exams and is now a Registered Architect in the State of Pennsylvania.  Peter is an architectural graduate of Pennsylvania State University and has been with the firm for 6 years.  From an early age, Peter acquired practical hands-on building experience working with his father in the construction industry.  His extensive project management experience includes healthcare, life care, religious, educational and commercial projects.  He resides in Mountville and works out of the firm’s Lancaster office. 

Peter is one of 4 registered architects on the staff of Beers & Hoffman, Shonk, Schwear & Associates Architecture.  The firm provides complete architectural services for life care, religious, education, healthcare, commercial, and residential clients with offices in Lancaster and Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

Scott L. Shonk elected to the PSBA (Pennsylvania School Board Association) SAM Advisory Council

Scott L. Shonk was recently elected to the PSBA Service Associate Member Advisory Council.  The Pennsylvania School Boards Association is a nonprofit statewide association of public school boards.  Their mission is to promote excellence in school board governance through leadership, service and advocacy for public education.  Experienced in school design, Mr. Shonk has been the project architect for over a dozen projects with three school districts.  The firm’s recent design of a $38 million Renovation & Additions project to the Lebanon High School is currently under construction and is on track to secure LEED gold-level certification.  The firm provides complete architectural services for life care, religious, education, healthcare, commercial, and residential clients with offices in Lancaster and Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

Rick Brouse Joins firm As a Project Manager/Senior CADD TechnicianRick is an Associate Member of the American Institute of Architects and a Judge for the “Excellence in Design” program with the Associated Builders and Contractors.  A graduate of Harrisburg Area Community College, Rick brings 31 years of experience to the firm, including commercial, industrial, educational, senior living, religious, and healthcare projects. Rick is a Board Member and volunteers at the Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum and at the Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site.  He resides with his family in East Petersburg.

Houck has completed his architectural internship and registration exams and is now a Registered Architect in the State of Pennsylvania. John is an architectural graduate, Magna Cum Laude, of Drexel University and has over 13 years of experience in the field, including healthcare, life care, religious and commercial projects. John is a member of Victory Church in Lancaster, PA and volunteers his time for a variety of the church’s activities. John resides in the City of Lancaster with his wife and 3 children and works out of the firm’s Lancaster office.

Bright Side Baptist Church and Opportunities Center,

Hershey Avenue, Lancaster, PA was a multi-category winner of the 2008 WFX Solomon Awards at the Worship Facilities Conference & Expo held in November in Houston, Texas. The Solomon Awards, presented by Church Production Magazine and Worship Facilities Magazine, invited churches across the nation to submit for recognition of excellence in facilities design, operation, use, and A/V production. Beers & Hoffman, Ltd. Architects of Lancaster and Lebanon, PA submitted the project on the church's behalf and Bright Side Baptist Church was the winner in the Most Innovative Church Facility, Best Church Design - New Construction Project, Best Special Project and Best Overall Building Project categories and will appear in both magazines.
